Tobias basses began appearing during the 1970’s under luthier Michael Tobias, and were known for their neck-through construction and innovative styling. For example, Tobias basses were one of the first basses to feature an asymmetrical neck. To this day Tobias Toby basses still use the asymmetrical neck, which is preferred by many players, as it provides them with a natural and ergonomic feel to the neck.
